In a recent Greenfield Online/Ciao Surveys census representative omnibus survey, over 500 respondents from India were asked about their mobile phone and landline telephone ownership and activity. . . 84% of respondents stated they own both a mobile phone and landline phone, while 12% said they only own a mobile phone and 4% have only a landline phone.
Of those respondents who only have a mobile phone, 68% said it was because they are convenient. Respondents stated the most enjoyable features of their mobile phones were accessibility (42%) and its portability and the fact that it is easy to carry (38%). Of the 4% who only own a landline phone, 31% expect to purchase one within the next six months, while 42% stated they are planning to buy a mobile phone within one year. For the group of respondents who own both a mobile and landline phone (84%), 47% use their mobile most frequently, while 41% said they use both phones equally. Unfortunately for this group, 45% of them said their mobile phone had the largest monthly fee. When asked which phone they use most for long distance calls, 48% of respondents said they use their mobile. Why don’t respondents have a mobile phone?
